The career of the prominent Czech statistician and economist Richard Hindls is linked primarily with the University of Economics, Prague, which he led from 2006 to 2014 as its Chancellor. Following his graduation from the master’s degree in 1975, he joined the Department of Statistics and later moved to the Department of Long-Term Outlooks of the Czech Planning Committee. Since 1987, he worked at the Department of Statistics and Probability of the University of Economics, Prague (formerly just Department of Statistics), which he ran since 1992. His long-lasting professional interests rest mainly in analyses and prognoses of economic time series, macroeconomic aggregates, marketing surveys analyses, and statistical methods in auditing and accounting. He became a professor in 1998. Before assuming the post of the Chancellor of the University of Economics, Prague, he held the post of the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics between 2001 and 2006. In March 2014, he joined the Czech Television Council; two months later, he became its Vice-Chairman. He concluded his activity at the Czech Television Council in January 2018, when he was concurrently elected to the Czech Fiscal Council for a four-year mandate on a proposal of the Senate.
